Brick City's Towards No Drug Abuse and No Violence
Description:
Brick City's Project Towards No Drug Abuse and No Violence will serve 360 males from Newark, ages 14-19, recruited from specific alternative educational programs within the Newark Public Schools using Project TND (Project Towards No Drug Abuse), a 12-session curriculum which has demonstrated significant reductions in use of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs and violence-related behaviors. Project partners, including The Bridge, Inc., Communities in Schools of New Jersey, Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations and the Newark Department of Child and Family Wellbeing provide wraparound services in support of the curriculum including individualized mentoring; targeted access to health/behavioral healthcare; career/ postsecondary school guidance; and placement in jobs, internships, and/or service learning projects.

Project Title:
Crossroads to Success Program
Description:
This community based, afterschool and weekend program promotes educational and job readiness/employment opportunities for 150 male students, ages 14 to 18, at greatest risk of engaging in health-risking social behaviors that jeopardize their productive future at New Brunswick High School. In partnership with the New Brunswick Board of Education and the New Brunswick Hub Teen Center, the approach uses one-on-one and group mentoring/counseling programs to engage students in a variety of activities outside the traditional classroom.

Project Title:
Civic Justice Corps Leadership Academy - PAY
Description:
This program targets young men, ages 16 to 24, most of whom are court-involved or formerly incarcerated. A 30-session structured curriculum provides guidance in translating leadership skill to action while experiential learning activities addressing local community needs engage participants in programs, resources and services for local residents and merchants, as well as community service and neighborhood development activities.

Project Title:
PATHWAYS: Safe Dates in the Carteret Public Schools
Description:
To educate adolescents on establishing healthy relationships and address the issue of teen dating violence, NCADD of Middlesex County will incorporate Safe Dates into the fabric of PATHWAYS, Carteret's School-based Youth Services Program. Annually, Youth Development Specialists from PATHWAYS will provide the entire nine-session Safe Dates curriculum to every eighth grader in the Middle School through their health classes. In year one, every ninth grader in the High School will also receive the full curriculum. In years two and three, ninth graders will receive four-lesson booster sessions. In addition, support groups and extracurricular clubs will be facilitated in each school by PATHWAYS staff to provide peer education and support.
