Equity and External Engagement: Innovative Approaches to Community Impact
The NJHI Learning Collaborative has begun a special Equity in Action webinar series, led by R.E.A.C.H. Beyond Solutions LLC and its founding principal, Shavon Arline-Bradley, MPH, MDiv., together with experts from the Equity HUB. The three-part series is an opportunity for New Jersey organizations and community-focused coalitions to receive support in identifying the next steps in their efforts to advance health equity through a racial justice framework. In the first session, Expanding Personal and Organizational Equity Capacity, participants explored a common language regarding equity, diversity and inclusion. In addition, they listened as nonprofit leaders addressed the hurdles and achievements that individuals and organizations often face when growing their equity capacity. By examining both institutional readiness and individual willingness to learn and grow from new understandings of equity, the panel had an honest discussion about why evolving at an organizational level also requires a deeper reflection at an individual level. Balancing transparency and confidentiality, the NJHI Learning Collaborative participants shared insights and challenges they are facing in this aspect of their work and learned about an opportunity to receive customized coaching from the Equity Hub consultants.
On Tuesday, November 1 at 2:30 p.m. ET, Shavon Arline-Bradley will facilitate the next session in this series and highlight a group of panelists who have or are currently implementing equity-centered projects in communities. This conversation will be an opportunity to understand what equity looks like in action and provide New Jersey community leaders with innovative ways to address health disparities. Participants will then be encouraged to share examples of how they are implementing equity in their communities and ideas to implement newer learnings into their own strategies. Registration is free for current and former NJHI grantees and their community partners.
Part Three of the Equity in Action webinar series will be held on Thursday, December 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET and will delve into Data and Metrics for Equity-Based Impact. Registration will open following the November 1 session.
