Webinars: Libraries as Community Health Resources

Libraries are not just for checking out books anymore. A growing number of communities in New Jersey and across the nation are working with and through libraries to better serve community residents by providing accessible, understandable health information that will lead to building healthier communities.

To discuss this trend, New Jersey Health Initiatives partnered with Zachary Taylor, Med, CHES, Coordinator of Healthier Middlesex to highlight the untapped potential of public libraries as community assets. Zach presented a public webinar on “Libraries as Community Health Resources” at both 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on May 31.

He began the webinar by discussing a history of the work to embed more health resources in Middlesex County. This interactive discussion included a brief overview of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Middle Atlantic Region’s role in training librarians to share health resources that contribute to improving health.
