Recognizing that in-home childcare workers tend to approximately 2500 children throughout the state and that the cost of replenishing health and safety resources can be prohibitive for these low-wage personnel, New Jersey Communities United (NJCU) led this project to provide resources that can ensure a sanitary environment for the children of essential workers. With a particular focus on the nearly 700 New Jersey home-based childcare providers that are currently operating, NJCU informed this workforce about the state’s health and safety recommendations amid the COVID-19 public health emergency. In addition, NJCU provided supplies to support the recommended level of cleaning within home-based childcare locations. Through this project, NJCU has advanced the existing COVID-19 response efforts in the state, which can inform an equitable recovery throughout New Jersey.
