The Community Foundation of South Jersey, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of New Jersey, is leading the two-year Transform South Jersey project to increase social cohesion and build community capital in six south Jersey communities with the goal of strengthening their social, cultural and economic vibrancy. The six communities are:

• Downe Township
• Hammonton
• Salem
• Willingboro
• Winslow Township
• Woodbury

Through this project, residents and leaders in each of these communities will participate in the Community Heart & Soul model. In this four-phase process, members of each community will identify partners, build relationships, determine options for the future and work together to develop projects they care about for years to come. They will receive funding and training from the Community Foundation of South Jersey to complete the process and establish a locally controlled community endowment fund to support the strategies that result from the Heart & Soul process.

By the end of the Transform South Jersey initiative, Downe Township, Hammonton, Salem, Willingboro, Winslow Township and Woodbury will join more than 80 Community Heart & Soul projects throughout the nation that are creating resident-driven community change.
