Bringing it ‘All In!’ for Pleasantville! Hot Jobs and Cool Summer Learning!

NJHI 2020: Small Communities Forging Hyperlocal Data Collaboratives Pleasantville “All In!”

Our partner, AtlantiCare Health System, brought their ‘hot jobs’ to Pleasantville schools in May – giving students an in-person opportunity to learn about careers at AtlantiCare and to apply for jobs on the spot. Flow Academics, another community partner, is providing SAT/ACT prep classes at AVANZAR’s office this summer to prepare students for the August SAT testing dates and equip them with important test-taking skills that can continue to serve them as they begin their career journey. Over a ten-week program, ten students from Pleasantville are assessing their current readiness to enter college and to prepare for the SAT test in August. Having the skills to understand and score well on standardized exams will also provide lifelong benefits as they encounter entrance exams for other employment opportunities, including the civil service and applying to trade schools and vocational programs.
