Bringing it ‘All In!’ in Pandemic Times

NJHI 2020: Small Communities Forging Hyperlocal Data Collaboratives Pleasantville “All In!”

In May 2021, Pleasantville ‘All In!’ held its first virtual career fair for Pleasantville High School seniors and recent alumni.  Our host, AtlantiCare held a two-hour session about their “Hot Jobs” that are entry-level positions that do not require a college degree and can be springboards to great careers with the area’s largest healthcare provider. In addition to learning about AtlantiCare from their key leadership, the event featured opportunities to meet with Human Resources personnel and learn about the free training and benefits that are available to AtlantiCare employees.

As the world slowly begins to re-open, there is still much uncertainty about rules, safety regulations and more. However, summer is a traditionally profitable time for many seasonal businesses that are also seeking team members. As an alternative to the employment opportunities that those seasonal jobs provide, we hoped that this career fair for Pleasantville High School students and alumni would highlight career pathways that they can access right out of high school to earn income and benefits that can support healthier living.
