If You Want to Go Far, Go Together
The Morristown United for Healthy Living (MUHL) Coalition is excited to welcome two new community organizers, Adrienne Valentine and Martita Roman, who both live in Census Tract 435. They have volunteered as Street Captains and are passionate about the work to improve safety and affordability of homes within their neighborhood.

Adrienne and Martita will recruit more Street Captains and meet with them monthly to share information regarding community resources and discuss how to better engage residents in neighborhood revitalization work. Street Captains spread awareness of the MUHL coalition and our work, including our Home Repair Initiative, among their neighbors. Street Captains also gather input from their fellow residents to help identify needs and possible solutions for improving the safety and condition of homes within their neighborhood.

Adrienne has lived in the census tract for more than 20 years. She says, “It is rewarding to be a part of a cause so important in our community and to help unite the residents to achieve better outcomes.”
Adrienne and Martita also work with the MUHL steering committee to plan workshops for residents about topics such as Tenants’ Rights and Credit Repair Strategies. They have valuable insight as to what information residents need and how best to communicate and engage with the community.
Martita has lived in the census tract for 10 years and says, “I really like learning about all of the resources for the community and being more involved in helping lift up the community. I have always liked helping people. Together, Adrienne and I make a great team!”
