Neighborhood Connections Brings its Blueprint for Action to Life

NJHI 2016: Building a Culture of Health in New Jersey – Communities Moving to Action, Round 2 Neighborhood Connections to Health

Upon completing our Blueprint for Action to build a healthier Freehold, 25 members of the Neighborhood Connections to Health Coalition gathered at the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center on Throckmorton Street for a bus tour of Freehold Borough. Our goal was to help bring our Blueprint for Action to life for our coalition by seeking examples of locations for improvement to walkability/bikeability, opportunities to improve access to healthy foods, spaces for increased physical activity and homes with an increased risk of lead paint hazards.

With the help of our knowledgeable tour guides and very own coalition members, Jeff Friedman of the Freehold Center Management Corporation and Lynn Reich, long time Freehold Borough Resident and Retired Educator, our coalition members were able to take a journey through the town and envision how our proposed initiatives could make an impact. Our members were excited and intrigued by this fresh take on hosting a coalition meeting and felt that seeing the community in person put the Blueprint for Action into perspective.

We are excited and motivated to continue moving to action, making sure that we celebrate our successes along the way!
